General Information

Brennan Junction Pool is located in South-West Iceland. The beat produces between 250 to 400 salmon annually as well as good numbers of sea trout, thus making it one of the very best junction pools in the country. Brennan is fished with three rods, fishing a single bank of about 2 km long, with eight marked pools.

From the legendary Möggustrengur down to the picturesque Klappir, the Brennan offers a variety of perfect salmon water to cover. In July, as the salmon runs reach their peak, the beat turns into a spectacle – an unforgettable experience for anglers. The easy access to the river and proximity of anglers paired with the exceptional fishing and comfortable facilities have made Brennan a sought-after destination for many years. In particular, families and other small groups enjoy the Brennan, as the two houses combine to have 8 beds and plenty of room.

Fishing is arranged on a bespoke basis and is permitted for up to 12 hours per day. Anglers may arrive at the lodge at 3 pm on the first day of fishing and are kindly asked to leave no later than 1 pm  on their departure day.

Brennan FAQ

We welcome rod sharers on all our rivers as well as non fishers. We can also offer our guests extra rooms depending on availability

Yes, disinfection must be carried out by a veterinarian from the country of embarkation and a certificate of disinfection presented to local custom officer upon arrival to Iceland. If a certificate cannot be obtained, the fishing equipment must be handed to customs officers upon entering the country for immediate disinfection at owner’s expense.

Alternatively, rental gear and tackle can be arranged with sufficient notice. Flies can also be purchased to be ready upon arrival.

We kindly ask our guests to adhere to the check in schedules specified here on the website or in the brochures in order for our staff to be able to adequately prepare the lodge for your arrival.

In Iceland English is widely spoken by the locals and can be referred to as a second language.

The Brennan beat is very comfortably reachable from the bank, especially using a double handed rod. Minimal wading is recommended. The fish like to hang out from the intersection between the clear water and the glacial and well into the bank so excessive wading can spook them.
